How long is the Integral Yoga Therapy Certification Program?

The IYTh program is an 800-hour, module-based training program. You can choose a schedule that best works for you, and all 800 hours must be completed in two to five years.

Where will I attend classes?

Currently, all core modules are scheduled virtually on our course platform online.integralyogatherapy.org

Depending on where you live, you can choose your “Home Center” from Integral Yoga Institute of San Francisco, Integral Yoga Institute of New York or Satchidananda Ashram–-Yogaville, near Charlottesville, Virginia. Your “Home Center” is where you submit your application and where you work with your mentor, peer cohort group, and local Center Manager on administrative items. You are welcome to enroll in Integral Yoga Therapy Certification (IYTh) modules at any location.

Are there any prerequisites?

Yes, you must have successfully completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training and have at least one year of Yoga teaching experience (min 50 hours). Additionally, you must have at least one year of your own personal Yoga practice. Applicants must also be 18 years of age or older.

What if I have already taken one of the trainings that is part of the IYTh Program?

If you have already taken one of the core module trainings in the IYTh Program, you can apply for a Previous Education Credit to have that training applied toward your certification. The instructor and syllabus must be the same, and you must have successfully completed the course within five years prior to enrollment in the IYTh Program. Please indicate on your application if you are interested in having a previous training applied or contact your local Center Manager for more information.

Who are the instructors?

IYTh is taught by senior Integral Yoga teachers and experts in their fields. View Faculty Members

Will I have a chance to work with other Yoga therapists and gain practical experience before graduating?

Yes! A very important part of the IYTh Program is Mentoring and Practicum. Approximately 200 of the 800 training hours are dedicated to supervised client contact. You have the opportunity to offer Yoga therapy services to individuals and small groups while receiving feedback from your peers and Program Mentor. Your Home Center collaboratively pairs you with an ideal Mentor who is a C-IAYT Yoga Therapist in the Integral Yoga organization.

What is a Peer Cohort?

Peer Cohorts are groups of students in the IYTh track, formed to create a structure of support and inspiration through the training. Peer Cohorts meet monthly, providing an opportunity for students to share their studies and work together on practical applications of Yoga therapy. In addition, IYTh faculty schedules general focus themes related to training and practicum issues.

What is a C-IAYT, and what is the difference between the C-IAYT and IYTh credentials?

C-IAYT is the credential given to people who have successfully completed a Yoga Therapy Certification Program accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapists or IAYT. As stated on the IAYT website, “IAYT’s certification for Yoga therapists (C-IAYT) is built on competency-based educational standards and a rigorous accreditation process for training programs. C-IAYTs agree to follow a defined scope of practice and a code of professional ethics.”

IAYT certification provides recognition to yoga therapists who meet or exceed an established set of standards. It is a quality control mechanism whereby through a credible, objective, peer-review process a public stamp of approval is given to highly trained yoga therapists. Additionally, the requirements for ongoing certification help the wider community have confidence as IAYT certified yoga therapists (C-IAYT) make a professional contribution to health, healing and integrative healthcare environments.

IYTh is an Integral Yoga therapist – a designation unique to our tradition. It goes beyond the C-IAYT and recognizes a small number of people worldwide who have not only the breadth of the C-IAYT that I mentioned in earlier comments, but also the depth of working with a specific population with yoga technologies steeped in our tradition.

Can I get my YA 300/500 hr RYT designation while completing the 800 hour program?

Yes! Working alongside the Integral Yoga Teachers Association, students will complete approved 300 hours while completing the IYTh 800 program hours. Thus earning the more highly trained Yoga Alliance credential of 500 HR RYT along the way when you select courses that fit both requirements. To do this you need to apply through the IYTA after enrolling in the IYTh program, and your center mentor will help you through this process to ensure you reach your end goal.

What kind of certificate will I get upon completing the program?

Upon successfully completing the 800-hr program, you can apply through the IAYT for certification to be recognized as a C-IAYT. If a graduate of the 800-hour Program wishes to become a certified Integral Yoga Therapist and receive the IYTh credential, they must complete an Elective Module in a specialty area of their choosing from a selected list of approved trainings.

How much does the program cost?

The initial investment of $3700 includes $108 application fee and $3592 Mentoring and Administrative Support, paid at the start of the program. This valuable investment assures your personal guidance and individualized program planning every step of the way! This sets the essential groundwork for your success. The remaining $9250 of Core Module tuition is paid per module (not as a lump sum) and is spread out over the course of the program. Every time you enroll in a core module, you will receive the IYTh discounted tuition and only pay the tuition for that module you are enrolled in. This brings the total total program tuition to $12,950.

Travel, accommodations and meals are not included in total program cost. The Elective Module required for Integral Yoga Certification is also a separate cost not included in total tuition price. A complete breakdown of the program tuition is available upon request.
