Homework assignment to client/group

He is now to sit still for longer periods of time. As he has a competitive nature, I challenged him to be like Nachiketa and see how long he can sit still for, and how long he can practice the pranayama and mindful movement for on a daily basis.

Activities

Today we did a guna check in, followed by learning and practicing kapalabhati and then getting straight into our rishikesh series yoga practice, with leg lifts to warm up, and then cobra, locust, dynamic paschimottanasana, wide legged forward fold, shoulderstand, and then child's pose and a reclined twist. Afterwards, we did our pranayama - nadi shodhana and box breathing - and then had a few minutes for silent meditation and a wisdom teaching about Nachiketa.

Client/Group progress summary

He seems to be doing well, though he is still highly rajasic, and I get the feeling sometimes that he is just telling me what I want to hear, though that could be projection on my part and unfair to him.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I feel conflicted with this client in particular, as he reminds me a lot of myself when I was younger, and I feel that may be clouding my perception of him and his practices and progress. Nonetheless, I do feel that I am doing the best that I can, and am also trying my best to remain healthily detached.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Next session I plan to continue with our more traditional style of integral yoga classes, while potentially adding more advanced practices, like headstand and/or yoga nidra.
