Phase 2 Module
Course Description:
Receive a comprehensive introduction to Yoga’s sister science, Ayurveda, traditionally focused on healing body and mind. With both in-person and online components, learn about main Ayurvedic concepts and language of Gunas (psychological nature), doshas (mind/body types and imbalances), and digestive system. Learn the ten pairs of opposites and how climate season and age impact the gunas (qualities). Discuss the difference between Prakruti (individual nature) and Vikruti (imbalance). This module facilitates a holistic view of the vast healing potential of Ayurveda, offering insight into personalized self-care and how to overcome common obstacles to feeling balanced and healthy every day.
Topics of Study include:
- Philosophy of Ayurveda
- Fundamental Ayurvedic qualities of the universe: three gunas, five elements, three doshas, twenty qualities, five sub-doshas, and three subtle doshas: prana, tejas, and ojas
- Digestion (agni) and elimination (mala)
- Constitutional examination and mental nature
Continuing Education (CE) Opportunities
- Yoga Alliance (YA): 50 hours for continuing education.
- Integral Yoga 300-hour: 50 hours towards RYT 500 designation.
- Yoga Therapy: This is one of the required modules to become certified as an Integral Yoga Therapist.
- Healthcare and Related Disciplines: Although CMEs are not offered, a certificate documenting CE hours may be available for your discipline. Please email ce@iyta.org for details.
