Phase 1 Module
Course Description:
Dive into the richness of therapeutic Yoga within the authentic lineage of Integral Yoga. In this module, we will review essential anatomy and physiology related to common disease processes from both Yogic and Western medical perspectives. We also will create adjustments to the Integral Yoga class to meet the needs of individuals in both group and individual settings. Discover new ways to apply the six branches of Integral Yoga into a therapeutic practice(s), whether it is adapted asana, devotional practices outside of a “traditional” Yoga setting or using service as a healing modality. Participants will develop a mock treatment plan for a client and deepen their understanding of therapeutic relationships, assessment skills and therapeutic plans.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Define Yoga Therapy
- Understand the scope of practice of a Yoga Therapist and the Integral Yoga’s vision of Yoga Therapy
- Design a client intake form
- Create a client action plan
- Recognize the role of negentropy in dis-ease
- Understand the aging process in health and disease
- Recognize common medical conditions
- Understand the client-therapist relationship
- Determine appropriate breathing practices for common conditions
- Integrate branches of Integral Yoga into client action plans
Continuing Education (CE) Opportunities
- Yoga Alliance (YA): 50 hours for continuing education.
- Integral Yoga 300-hour: 50 hours towards RYT 500 designation.
- Yoga Therapy: This is one of the required modules to become certified as an Integral Yoga Therapist.
