| Select Case Study | YAK CS3 |
| Criteria Score Sheet | |
| Scope - Key concepts and goals identified; appropriately applied to client/group | 4 Proficient Clearly presented and purposeful response; details could be enriched and more compelling |
| Feedback on Scope | Kayko is gaining experience and it is observable in her planning, delivery, documentation and assessment in the YAK case study. Kayko used more yogic tools in this case study (e.g. mudras, japa, yoga philosophy, different meditation practices) to address all 5 koshas & to provide a more holistic plan to her client. Kayko did excellent research to support this case study, offered reading and home practice resources to her client, was more systematic in her assessment of what tools were helpful (or not), and adjusted the care plan as she progressed with her client. Suggestions: continue to refine initial care plan (adding / deleting yogic tools) as needed with the goal of having a final care plan documented at the end of the case study, which can then be used with future clients or for publication. Refine how short-term and long-term goals are assessed. For example, how could Kayko and client assess whether the goal of "increased mobility" was achieved or not. |
| Comprehension of Core Concepts - Demonstrates a clear understanding of concepts from modules with the integration of critical thinking skills in goal and implementation. | 4 Proficient The response identified relationships between concepts, there is some breadth of information, and minor adjustments may be needed |
| Feedback on Comprehension of Core Concepts | I'd rank this 4.5 if possible. Kayko is growing in her ability to assess clients needs, identify yogic tools to address those needs, understand the relationship between yogic tools & kosha layers, draw insightful conclusions and adjust plans accordingly. For example, in the initial care plan, Kayko proposed group support (sangha) to her client but removed it from the care plan when the client described why she wasn't ready. At the same time, Kayko added yogic tools (e.g. discussion of yoga sutras, mantras) when her client responded positively. Suggestions: continue to assess client's needs and yogic tools across entire pancha maya kosha model. Continue to refine assessment of yogic tools and effectiveness of care plan. |
| Analysis of Key Issues - Shows consideration of specific client/group, IY, and Yoga Therapy. | 4 Proficient Response is well reasoned, logically sequenced, and rational. Although knowledge is demonstrated, the response may not be fully convincing |
| Analysis of Key Issues Feedback | I would rank this 4.5 if I could. Kayko's analysis is well reasoned, logically sequenced and rational -- especially in her research of her client's condition and the use of certain yogic techniques, such asana (Hatha and restorative), pranayama (breathing practices and mudras) and meditation (guided meditation, loving kindness meditation, kirtan kriya / japa meditation, sound bath meditation) to address and improve physical, energetic, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Kayko Suggestions: continue to explore how to measure goals and breadth of yogic tools in care plan |
| Application--IYTh teachings and client goals are clearly and appropriately addressed in plan and follow up. | 4 Proficient The response shows evidence of the ability to apply skills; the response is mostly complete but may have some gaps |
| Application of Key Teaching Feedback | I would rate this as 4.5 if possible. Suggestions: ensure there is a way to measure whether or not yoga therapy is meeting client's goals (e.g. greater mobility, physical strength, mental strength). Consider updating the initial care plan or creating a final care plan to document what worked (or not) so that you can use it when working with a future client with similar condition. |
| Relevance and Accuracy - Justifies methods and application. | 5 Exceptional Points / assertions are supported by relevant research and references. |
| Relevance and Accuracy Feedback | Kayko did excellent research to understand the client's condition and goals. She did an excellent job in citing references to educate her client on how yoga therapy might (or might not) meet client's physical goals. She did an excellent job of highlighting how yoga therapy could address needs that her client was not aware of (sense of calm / peace). Kayko also provided useful resources to assist her client's home practice. Well done. |
| Integration and Originality - Exhibits critical thinking and individualized approach to client/group. Shows a difference between Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist approach. | 5 Exceptional Demonstrates critical thinking about the topic and own interpretations. The reasoning is not merely presented but interpreted and applied to core concept. |
| Integration and Originality Feedback | Kayko demonstrated exceptional critical thinking with this case study from initial intake through each client session. She took time to understand the client's condition, research how yogic tools could assist her client, created a holistic care plan, and individualized it to address her client's needs. Kayko shifted from teaching a yoga class to providing an individualized care plan that is helping her client heal physically, energetically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. |
| Observations, Recommendations, Alternative Solutions - Reveals significant reflection and understanding of population and Yoga therapy. Displays ability to adapt, adjust, accommodate. | 4 Proficient Solid, well-thought out observations and recommendations on effective solutions to many of the problems/issues. Alternatives are discussed with some methods to evaluate. |
| Observations, Recommendations, Alternative Solutions Feedback | Kayko's observations and recommendations are maturing with each case study. Kayko's observation of her client's needs and progress was proficient and she adapted / adjusted the care plan based on both her client's feedback and her own observations. Kayko has a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities. I appreciated how Kayko informed her client that while some research showed that yoga practices helped some people with her client's condition; other studies were not conclusive. She set reasonable expectations for her client & exceeded those expectations. Kayko provided alternative techniques (e.g. asana, pranayama, meditation, journaling, etc.) and adjusted the case plan (e.g. removing group support) to address her client's individual needs. Suggestions: Continue to refine how to measure short-term and long-term recommendations to evaluate success (or adjustment) of care plan. |
| Writing Skills and Professional Presentation - Case Study is presented in professional manner. | 5 Exceptional Writing is totally free of grammar and spelling errors. Clear, concise, and creative presentation of ideas and properly referenced. |
