| Feedback on Scope | Kayko did an excellent job in the clearness, completeness and purposefulness of documenting this case study. Kayko is using an excellent outline to help her capture important aspects of the case study. She summarizes her initial intake with the client, discusses short-term & long-term goals, assesses her client across the Panchamaya Kosha model of healing by listening & observing her client, and then develops a yoga therapy plan. Kayko provides a brief overview & then details yogic tools to be considered to address each Kosha. She highlights when the initial care plan is adjusted to meet her clients needs. Kayko provides a list of research references and supporting resources for her client. Next, Kayko documents each session: discussions & activities, home work assignments, resources & handouts. She provides a progress summary after each session -- measuring and assessing whether the yogic tools she's offered are useful & making adjustments as needed. I appreciate how Kayko has begun to ask her client's to self report (e.g. on a scale of 1-10, what is your pain level) as it enables them to measure progress & adjust plans for the next session. Finally, I appreciate Kayko's reflection and self-evaluation. In this use case, Kayko discovered the value of Raja Yoga in her yoga therapy sessions and was able to offer these teachings to her client, which provided her client with a lasting effect on her efficacy. The scope of this case study was exceptional. |

Some examples of how Kayko connects the "what", "how" and "why" are demonstrated in the following examples: Very well done. |
| Analysis of Key Issues - Shows consideration of specific client/group, IY, and Yoga Therapy. | 5 Exceptional The analysis is well reasoned, logical sequence and rational; Thoughtful and convincing response clearly demonstrates depth of topic knowledge |
| Analysis of Key Issues Feedback | The analysis delivered by Kayko was well reasoned, sequential and thoughtful. In this particular use case, Kayko leveraged her client's interest and education in Yoga (RYT 200) to discuss the Panchamaya Kosha model as a guide for unraveling the root of suffering. Because her client was receptive to Yoga philosophy, Kayko encouraged a deepening of understanding the True Self through Svadhyaya. Kayko was able offer her client Yoga tools such as Sutra Study (1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.33), Raja Yoga, Jnana Yoga & Bhakti Yoga to deepen her client's practice. Kayko's client responded deeply to the use of these Yogic tools stating "This is what I'm looking for". I also appreciated how Kayko used creativity to tie together Yogic tools. For example, she offered a the mantra "Om Aieem Namah" (my true self is inspired and wise) as a moving meditation while performing Sun Salutations to inspire her client to practice even when she didn't feel up to it. Kayko did an exceptional job offering her client Yogic tools that addressed her entire being (body, mind & spirit). |

| Application of Key Teaching Feedback | Kayko's use case demonstrate her ability to synthesize knowledge and apply skills. In this use case, Kayko offered thoughtful poses to help her client release TMJ pain, relieve tightness in the lower ribs, release fascia pain, and improve sleep. Kayko offered different breathing practices to help her client establish a steady rhythm of breathing and movement of vayus to reduce rajastic energy & mood swings. Kayko help her client ground using meditation techniques as a mental anchor, to discriminate & redirect mental activities, and to develop a regular practice to connect the body, mind & spirit. I appreciate how Kayko created an initial action plan and then modified it as needed after every session. As a result, Kayko was able to have conversations with her client to explore the Anandamaya kosha & work towards realization through meditation & self-service/seva. It's lovely to see Kayko move from teaching a yoga class to using her skills & knowledge to help her client become more self-aware and effective in working towards achieving her goals and/or accepting her current state. |
| Relevance and Accuracy - Justifies methods and application. | 5 Exceptional Points / assertions are supported by relevant research and references. |
| Relevance and Accuracy Feedback | Kayko completed research and provided relevant resources to her client on how Yogic tools might assist her client in reducing back pain, muscle stiffness, and insomnia. Kayko set up a Google Drive, enabling her client to access articles, videos, Yoga sequence handouts, Yoga sutra handouts, meditations, and more. These resources empowered her client to practice by herself & begin to discover how negative thinking was impacting her overall being. |
| Integration and Originality - Exhibits critical thinking and individualized approach to client/group. Shows a difference between Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist approach. | 5 Exceptional Demonstrates critical thinking about the topic and own interpretations. The reasoning is not merely presented but interpreted and applied to core concept. |
| Integration and Originality Feedback | Kayko demonstrates exception critical-thinking and offer an individualized approach in her yoga therapy sessions. She is clearly demonstrating the difference between being a Yoga Therapist in addition to being a Yoga Teacher. For example, Kayko introduced poses to address her client's goals of reducing pain: joint-freeing series to address stiffness, the vamping pose (as described in Yoga International) to address her client's TMJ pain, and resting pigeon to reduce tightness in her lower ribs. She incorporated "Pratipaksha Bhavana" along with alternate nostril breathing to help her client release critical thoughts. She offered a Lake Meditation by John Kabat Zinn to help her client improve self-regulation. Kayko's sessions are thoughtful, beginning with a check-in, adjusting the plan as needed, incorporating Yogic techniques that are appropriate for the client on the day they meet.... It's lovely to see this growth in Kayko. She's becoming an amazing Yoga therapist. |
| Observations, Recommendations, Alternative Solutions - Reveals significant reflection and understanding of population and Yoga therapy. Displays ability to adapt, adjust, accommodate. | 5 Exceptional Well-reasoned, logical, relevant observations and recommendations on effective solutions to most of the problems/issues. Alternatives are discussed and cover all areas of evaluation. |
| Observations, Recommendations, Alternative Solutions Feedback | Kayko is becoming exceptional in her ability to adapt, adjust and accommodate her plans to address her client's needs & goals. For example, to help her client when she suffers from insomnia, Kayko offered several restorative poses (supported child, supported spinal twist), breathing practices (deep belling), meditation (body scan). By offering her client choice, she was able to assist her client in getting a better night's sleep. Kayko also offered her client several techniques to break the cycle of negative thinking. She suggested that her client start by working with the Annamaya Kosha (walking, activating asana), alternate nostril breathing & Pratipaksha Bhavana at the same time, chanting "Om Shanti", guided meditation with imagery (Lake Meditation). Kayko also helped her client let go of perfection by encouraging her to design her own daily practice: This allowed her client to be successful & feel encouraged. One day, she practiced mediation for 10 minutes and said "The benefits are immediate". Through creativity & thougtfulness, Kayko enables her client(s) to achieve noticeable difference through simple practices. Well done. |
