Homework assignment to client/group

Practice the 2nd sequence of Dr Loren Fishman.
Practice awareness of your breath.
Chant or hear Gayatri Mantra and observe sensations/perceptions.

“This tripod of enthusiasm, intelligence, and humility provides a stable base for your explorations. When you combine enthusiasm, intelligence, and humility, your actions become vibrant, meaningful, and joyful. However, if one of the three pillars is missing, instability develops. In brief, the yogic action defined in this aphorism simply says:
Show up to every single moment of your life with your mind and heart open.
How do you cultivate these three attitudes?
What do you do to bring aliveness into your attitude?
What motivates you?
Are you bringing enthusiasm into whatever you are doing?”
(Unravel the thread. Rubén Vásquez.)

Client/Group progress summary

M was distracted at the end, she didn’t lay down for savasana and was sitting with a rounded back, although I told everybody that they could do savasana sitting or laying down but always with a back support. R said to M she used to be more distracted at the beginning, but now she just lets it go when she remembers all the chores she needs to do after the session. J is improving her twists. R is practicing daily.

Reflection and self-evaluation

Today I had two cameras for better vision from different angles. We couldn’t do all the sequences today because we just left a posture when everybody understood how to do it safely, and this took time! We missed the last 4 postures. I was happy to see M, who had never done yoga before, in a beautiful ardha chandrasana with her forearms on the chair. I kept talking to them for 20 minutes more, so the session time was 110 minutes today.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.

PRANAYAMA: slow bhastrika
“Slow or mild bhastrika is practiced to approximately one breath every two seconds, with no undue force on inhalation or exhalation. It’s like amplified normal breathing. Slow bhastrika should be practiced by beginners and those practicing for therapeutic reasons, although it’s beneficial at all stages.
Medium bhastrika increases the speed of respiration to approximately one breath per second. Fast Bhastrika’s speed is around two breaths x second.” Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati - Prana and Pranayama.
