Legs up the wall

Activities

Today's session began with checking in with Reina to see if there were any challenges or changes physically and mentally. She reported a minor neck strain caused while practicing the child’s pose. I advised using props as needed and balancing the neck by turning the head to the opposite side, especially when holding poses for longer periods, such as in restorative yoga.
She also reported having two dreams, one involving her mother and the other her brother. After these dreams, she could go back to sleep by listening to guided meditation, although her sleep was interrupted. I suggested practicing alternate nostril breathing in bed or seated, whichever she feels more comfortable with.
I led a brief 2-minute meditation for centering, and then we moved on to the asana practice. Today’s asana series included three rounds of sun salutation and four seated poses. Reina mentioned that she practices these poses daily and has noticed improvements in her IBS condition. I provided her with Integral Yoga’s 12-step Sun Salutation sequence for her home practice.
We then discussed her feelings toward her mother and brother, as she mentioned having mixed emotions when she sits at the altar. I explained the concept of pratipaksha bhavana to her, suggesting she appreciate the many years spent with them instead of feeling sad.
I led a 15-minute yoga nidra for final relaxation, and I observed that she could relax physically and mentally. To conclude the session, I guided her through alternate nostril breathing.

Client/Group progress summary

She has established her daily routine and is experiencing significant benefits from these practices, both physically and mentally. This regular routine is helping her feel more balanced, energized, and at peace.

Reflection and self-evaluation

Even though she has several health conditions and concerns about her husband's health, she maintains herself very well. She watches what she eats, which is essential due to her celiac disease. She exercises almost every day and volunteers in the local community. This lifestyle helps balance her physical and mental health.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

I will continue to follow this care plan for the next several sessions because current care plan seems to be working well.
