Homework assignment to client/group

This was our last session, so no specific homework assignment other than continuing to work with what we have learned over these four weeks. Client know they can contact me with questions or concerns.

Activities

Lecture on the 6 tastes and how to use them to pacify excessive doshas. Presentation and discussion about doshas as related to time of day, the seasons, and the stages of life. Discussion on the 6 stages of disease.
Asana for pitta dosha - yin style poses; restorative poses; eye exercises
Pranayama: extended exhales; alternate nostril breathing

Client/Group progress summary

Clients enjoyed learning more about themselves and how they can improve their own health through the teachings and practices of Ayurveda. One client stated she feels "empowered" by what she has learned. Another client purchased an Ayurvedic cookbook since she loves to cook anyway.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I enjoyed working with this group a lot. The PowerPoint presentations worked well for helping me stay in my comfort zone with organizing material for lectures and discussions while also leaving enough open space for clients' questions and comments. Following the lectures with physical practices helped make the whole experience feel balanced for myself and for clients.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

This was our last session. I hope to offer this series again sometime in the Fall.
