| Session Instructions (Not Mentoring) | Your session outline should be a practice adapted to the needs of that client, including:
Tools from each module should be used (not on each client – but overall) |
| Session Date | 07/19/2024 |
| Session Number | 2 |
| Total Session Minutes | 75 |
| Homework assignment to client/group | Choose a practice or practices that is/are intriguing to you. Try it out several times between the sessions. To increase your likelihood of practicing, make the time commitment short, even three minutes. Try integrating the yoga practice with other routines of your day: an exercise routine, waiting for the kettle boil, preparation for sleep routine. |
| Activities | As per care plan. Added A-U-M-silence repetition to centering. Introduced the koshas and biopsychosocial-spiritual model. Some introduction to the anatomy of breathing. |
| Client/Group progress summary | The group is learning to link the breath to movement more fluidly, they are receptive to yoga philosophy concepts. Limited ROM and balance are a common challenge. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | The participants take a weekly group speech therapy for Parkinson’s class together each week, so vocalization is a familiar practice for them and they are uninhibited by it. There was more willingness to share reflections of their experiences with the practices this week compared to last. After class one participant said, “That was great! I feel like I had a full body massage.” Note to self ~ Maintain consistency of the sessions while adding variation and challenge to keep engagement and interest, fostering a sense of achievement. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | When I asked the group for suggestions for future sessions, working on standing balance and countering retropulsion were mentioned. We’ll take some movements already introduced and increase the challenge by exploring less reliance on the chair for steadying ourselves. Continue with the focus of linking movement to the breath, anatomy of the breath, energizing and calming breath practices, stress response, introduce the mental sheath. |
