Homework assignment to client/group

Increase time in seated meditation. Also, occasionally use hero pose for meditation (since he stated this helps his knees).

Activities

Reviewed his work with tapas and aparigraha. He shared examples of how he used this with ships he visits at work, and with members of a sangha he has been meeting recently.
Asana: Restorative asana including passive backbend, child's pose, supported shoulder stand, and supine twists.
Reviewed his seated posture for meditation. Client stated these helped relieve tension in his back.
Pranayama: Kapalabhati and alternate nostril breathing as preparation for meditation practice.

Client/Group progress summary

Client has been consistent with his asana and pranayama work on his own, but has had trouble scheduling yoga therapy sessions with me due to his work. (It has been a month since we had a session.) For this reason, he stated today that he would like to terminate sessions at this time. We reviewed the goals he set at the beginning of our time together. He believes he has made satisfactory progress on those goals.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I was able to meet the client where he was today. I felt a little sad that he wants to terminate at this time, but I was able to be understanding and supportive of his situation. He understands he can contact me in a few months when his schedule is lighter if he wants to return for yoga therapy.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
