Client/Group progress summary

Client reported having a "good week" where she "accomplished nothing," presenting somewhat rajasic in the self-criticism she shared. Sleep has been great, and she has a list of home projects she would like to work on. Also reported feeling less anxious.

After the Awareness Practice, shared she had an itch on her neck, which she did not touch during the practice - celebrated her resisting the urge to scratch it and instead allowing the discomfort of it. Also shared it was challenging connecting on the level of the emotions - says she still doesn't let herself feel them, for fear "I'll never stop crying." Shared from about middle school age to at least her mid-20's she cried every day. When she stopped drinking she described herself as "bottled/rigid" in locking down her feelings/emotions. Shared at the level of connecting with her breath, she felt that she struggles with deep breathing.

Talked for a while about sutra 1.2, an introduced an overview of the gunas as well, encouraging how we can use them as a reference point for understanding our physical and mental energy, and then working with the tools of yoga that best support restoring balance.

Client enjoyed dirga swasam - described her breath like "a wave" (had ocean sounds playing in the background), so explored extended exhalation as well.

Moved to supported restorative asana. Client shared she practices twists at home but wasn't sure she was "doing it the right way." Encouraged client that in our sessions (as well as my class) it's not about how the pose looks but how it feels - the sensations she notices in her body, what is enough without being too much.

Reflection and self-evaluation

With this client I'm taking a little extra time before the session to make sure I am grounded, practicing my own vairagya for the day to be able to hold the safest, most sattvic space I can hold for her.

With so many sessions feeling like I overplan, I intentionally wanted to err on the side of "less is more" with this client - slowing down, spending more time with pranayama practices, raja discussion, supported restorative asana. I felt the pranayama and raja practices for the day were appropriate and just enough for her to explore.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
