Homework assignment to client/group

Serenity prayer repetition with reflection, incorporate seated big toe taps and ab/adductor engagement into her daily PT routine. Keep up the humming breath consistently.

Activities

Client had just done a shortened set of PT exercises prior to our meeting.
Serenity prayer at beginning and end of session, grounding touch, seated spinal warm-up, prone humming breath, seated big toe taps, supine gentle abductor and adductor engagement with block between knees and strap around legs just below the block, leg shakes, heel and toe taps from table top with ‘who’ breath, sliding and gliding along fascia of body back side. Awareness practice leading into traveling awareness through the body, gathering awareness at center of brain, heart center and the connection between the two. Silence. Closing, reflection, scheduling another session.

Client/Group progress summary

Client had a brief episode of back pain. Upon consultation with her PT, she reduced her daily PT exercises to keep moving without causing further aggravation to her back. When we met her pain was almost gone. Keeping up her daily practice has given her strength and resilience to ride the waves of discomfort with more assurance. Linking breath to new movements continues to be a challenge for her. She appreciates the gentle practices introduced in yoga therapy and welcomes the guided relaxation. We will continue to meet as the client’s schedule allows.

Reflection and self-evaluation

Though the client is not able to meet on a regular schedule for our sessions, her daily consistency of home practice tends to make up for the lack of continuity in our meetings. I am finding that my intuition guides me more readily now compared to when first starting Practicum. The new practices introduced in this session came to mind without effort and they were well received. Finding that balance between effort and ease in my client sessions.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Similar to last two sessions with adaptations as appropriate for the client at the time we meet.
