| Client/Group progress summary | Client much more sattvic this session than last - still slightly rajasic in the mind while reporting feeling tamasic in the body. She felt she was setting much clearer boundaries with a friend whom she also is serving in somewhat of a dual relationship in providing a prevention plan for them. Also reported having productive meetings with her AA sponsor and counselor. Shared with her that I wanted to revisit a goal we didn't accomplish last session, being to check in on her stated goals, and work together to decide how we will measure progress as we move forward with our sessions. She shared she has been struggling with her time management and going to bed later this week than she knows she needs to. I shared with her an illustration (that I'm hoping to physically perform for her next week?): a glass jar with sand. lots of small rocks, medium sized rocks, and a few big rocks. The idea of this: often we start to fill the jar with the small things first, and then we don't have room for the big rocks. In the illustration, the big rocks are our priorities - those practices we do for ourselves daily for health and healing. The smaller the rock, the smaller its priority in our life/day. The big takeaway: when you put the big rocks in first, then the next smaller size, then the next smaller size... you have room for all of it. She shared the first big "rock" she would like to work on is her bedtime routine, so as she shared how she would like her even ritual to feel, I took notes for her and created her homework for the week. She also shared her counselor had asked her to read the book, Codependent No More. I asked if there was a deadline or timeframe, she wasn't sure, but will ask. Her smaller rock for the week is to spend 30 minutes a day (a time frame she chose) reading the book - taking time to ground, breathe and pray before she starts her reading, and not worrying about how far she gets in the book, only focus on being present with the learnings. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | I realized last week that when the client is very rajasic in her mind and starts to go down the rabbit hole of stories, she will interject statements like, "I'd like your opinion on this." I was very conscious this session of trying to keep more of a Gestalt dialogic approach: bracketing my thoughts, reflecting back what I saw and heard, and encouraging her to come back to her body. I also clarified my scope of practice, and as we reviewed her goals I was able to clarify how yoga therapy can support the other work she is doing, and also how we reserve this time together for the tools of yoga therapy. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | Before next session I'm updating my Capstone proposal with the measurement tool to use.
