| Client/Group progress summary | Emily - At check in indicated she was feeling "good." Slightly rajasic presentation, stated no pain or discomfort in the body. Christine - Slightly tamasic, had a PT session scheduled with Dr. Casey right after class. Reported tension in low back and hamstrings at check in. Trina - Slightly tamasic, as finds it challenging still to come to session in the morning. Very engaged in the practice, noticed more subtle sensations in her body this week - at times in the left hip and hamstrings, glutes, sometimes aware of sensations on the right side. Celebrated her tuning in to her body. Allen - Invited by Heidi to attend. Shared his experience with yoga was "once in a blue moon," and his reason for attending was "my friend (Heidi) recommended." Stayed engaged with the practice. Had Natia - New participant. Shared that "attended a class twice years ago and had great results in tension release. Would like to see if I could do this often and help back and shoulder tightness and pain." |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | I feel so unsuccessful with this case study, and it makes me question if I can really do small group yoga therapy in this setting. I do think I could offer individual yoga therapy at Fettle & Fit, but seeing as Dr. Casey wants to classes open to anyone willing to attend (with this week a brand new participant signing up the night before), I feel limited in how much I can really connect with the individual needs of each client. Going forward I think this is more of a general small yoga class at the wall really. And honestly shifting my expectations will probably take a lot of pressure off that I'm putting on myself, and allow me to be more present with the session participants each week. While some participants are current or former clients of Dr. Casey and do have a pelvic floor diagnosis, looking to incorporate reduction of chronic pain and stress management tools will be a goal for weekly sessions, as well as highlighting the movements Dr. Casey would like to see incorporated on a regular basis: internal rotation of the hip, toe spreading, 360 degree expansion of the ribs with deep diaphragmatic breathing, and low back decompression. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | Will use this for the final session of the case study. I will continue to lead the weekly class, incorporating tools of yoga therapy for pelvic pain, general chronic pain, and stress management. |
