Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.

Client/Group Goals

Her primary goal from yoga therapy is to alleviate the symptoms of Stiff Person Syndrome and osteoarthritis, manage her chronic pain, and improve her overall well-being. She also seeks stress relief, better mobility, improved energy levels, and a sense of connection and purpose in her life.

Report briefly on each Kosha belowProgress toward wellness or worsening reported by the client/group or that you observed in the following areas
Physical level

Stephanie commented, “This level is most challenging for me with Stiff Person’s Syndrome. The breathing and yoga exercises helped to stretch my muscles to avoid cramping and spasming.”

Energetic level

Staphanie commented “The exercises released areas where my energy was blocked, and I had more energy following the sessions.”

Emotional

Staphanie commented “The daily workouts gave me hope. I now have the confidence to leave my home, travel and visit with friends”

Intellectual / Sense of self

Stephanie practiced the homework assignments I provided and gave me feedback at the sessions, she is trying whatever she can to improve.
Because stiff person syndrome is a rare disease and less information is available to the public compared with other diseases, her willingness to learn about it and execute whatever she can is so strong, and this motivation keeps her positive feelings.

Spiritual orientation and support plan

I believe the sessions helped her well. She has been practicing yoga for many years and meditates, chants, and attends events. Now she works with her doctors and PT but fewer activities support her spiritually. I was able to provide some information about the online kirtan community and I did chant with her. I hope this support are needed for her and that she enjoyed it.

Sample of homework given between sessions (after initial homework)

I reminded her of the benefits of deep breathing and affirmations. She has an affirmation, “easy does it,” but she had forgotten it. I encouraged her to practice deep breathing and repeat her affirmation during her SPS episodes to help relax her muscles and calm her mind.

I also suggested heel drop practice and balancing practice including heel-to-toe walking.

Personal reflection from doing client/group.
What you would change with benefit of hindsight

I wish I could talk more about yoga philosophy from the Bhagavad Gita or Yoga Sutra to support Stephnie’s mental/spiritual journey to go through her SPS conditions because the improvement of her physical condition is limited.

Questions, problems, areas in which you’d like more support

I know that Yogaville’s Satsang is available on Livestream every Saturday, but are there any daily activities available online from Integral Yoga?

Also chanting book available from Integral Yoga?

Did you enjoy your service?

I enjoyed the sessions with Stephanie, we began every session with Hari Om chant together. Also she talked about her memory of attending retreats at ashram or chanting with Krishna Das.
