Client/Group progress summary

She did two sun salutations, went to the acupuncture, didn't practice Yoga Nidra, and didn't read the article, but later on, she called me saying that she did and liked it. she does affirmations and practices journaling sometimes.
We talked about Japa or mantra repetition and how it can calm down yourself and make you recognize what you really are, SAT CHIT ANANDA.
Once she mentioned that she is very harsh to herself, and I suggested that she could see herself as a little child.
She told me she hadn’t spoken to her daughter for years. I asked if she punished herself for that and suggested she talk to a psychologist or counselor to help her, to which she agreed.
She feels a little depressed sometimes but doesn’t go there. I said that this could take her to disease. It’s essential to release emotions with the support of a professional.
She is very critical about herself, it’s why one of her homework is to be more compassionate to herself.
She also reported that she had many surgeries as a kid and was “raised” by nuns. She was taught to take the pain in. I told her that it was time to release this pain.
She says her pain comes always at the same time, around 10 am.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I tried to stay within my scope of practice and suggested a professional counselor, trained to this task.
I used a mantra that she already knew and discussed the meaning of it to get her deeper into her inner Self when chanting the mantra. Although it is not an Integral Yoga technique, it's related to her experience as a meditator.
The yoga nidra was about kindness and love with one's own body.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.

Yoga Philosophy: 4 locks and 4 keys - to create peace of mind. (cont)
Sun salutation on the floor
back bend: smiling calming heart pose
“Calming: Smiling Heart Pose
This is a supported backbend that feels wonderful after a stressful day.
(…)It requires several props.
Place two folded blankets, a bolster, or a firm cushion under your back, just beneath your shoulder blades. Make sure the lift is comfortable and modify if you need to, using more or less support as feels right for your body.
Place a rolled blanket or towel underneath your neck so that the back of your head rests comfortably on the mat.
Place a bolster or cushion under your knees and allow your legs to be a comfortable (usually about hip-width) distance apart.
Allow your arms to stretch comfortably out at shoulder level, with your palms facing up.” (Yoga for depression, page 52, Amy Weintraub)
She can stay some minutes in this position observing breathing and sensations in the body. It’s good to calm down her heart.
Inversion - adapted Urdhva Mukha pashimotanasana - forward bend with back on the floor for better support. Lift the legs holding the strap around the feet.
No twists
Savasana.
Progressive Relaxation and deep relaxation with guided yoga nidra
PRANAYAMA: alternate nostril breathing
MEDITATION: She is used to practice SRF techniques of meditation. She will repeat the mantra Hong So, which she learned in SRF.
