Client/Group progress summary

Ray - Caucasian male, late 30s/early 40s. Stated energy was at a “6 or 7 out of 10” at check in. Also mentioned that he “overdid it” few days ago and feeling tension in head and neck. Very engaged with practice. Appreciated the pranayama practices - gentle kapalabati and librarian breath. At the end stated he “felt like himself” again.

Darnell - Quiet, came 10 min late, tamasic but engaged. Had some overall movement restrictions, but was able to find comfortable ranges of motion with the support of the chair.

Jolee(?) - Asian female, early 20's. Quiet but very present and engaged. Presented tamasic. At the end shared that she enjoyed the practice.

Young male - smiled but didn't say his name. Stayed for about 10 minutes and left.

Reflection and self-evaluation

Had a completely new group of students today, which I had not really had for a few weeks (during the case study), even though it can often be the case. I did this because they were new, but thinking I should do this every week- I gave an introduction to "What is yoga therapy?" and shared the goal of our session to "find more ease in the physical body, in the senses and emotions, and in the mind." I let them know we would do a variety of movements, but also some breathing practices, some mindfulness practices, and that I would share a little about principles of yoga as well. They seemed very interested in it, and I think for the nature of this weekly group I should always include this at the start.

I've noticed too that during the case study I've been inviting more feedback from them during the practice - not only encouraging them to notice sensations present in the body or any shifts in thought or emotion, but asking if there is anything they'd like to share with me after a practice. They have been much more engaged, and I'm hoping empowered to use these yogic tools during the hospitalization and after discharge.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

I will continue going every week - I really look forward to being present with whoever comes to the group. This was the last session of the case study.
