Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.

Client/Group Goals

Her first stated goal was "to connect and disconnect from my body," and I believe she has made positive progress with both of those goals. She is much more aware of the sensations present in her body - both during asana practice on the mat and daily life off the mat, using her breath practices to help reduce physical tension and calm her mind. She is offering herself - and her physical body - more compassion and grace.

Report briefly on each Kosha belowProgress toward wellness or worsening reported by the client/group or that you observed in the following areas
Physical level

Client is able to keep food down, with less belching and bloating. Client shared a reduction in the tightness/tension in right hip which she initially described as "always tight."

Energetic level

After initially sharing that she struggled with deep breathing, client has been able to explore Dirga Swasam and Extended Exhalation comfortably. She has also been able to incorporate deeper breathing and physicalizing her practice using finger compressions. Client has been experiencing overall more physical energy during the day and restful sleep.

Emotional

Client has been allowing herself to experience and feel emotions, such as crying after dropping her older daughter off at college. Instead of locking down her emotions she has been working with her breathing and releasing the need to "bottle up" her emotions.

Intellectual / Sense of self

While the client still struggles with feeling like a "failure" as a parent, she is speaking less critically of herself overall since our first session, and is beginning to see herself differently - with less judgement and more compassion.

Spiritual orientation and support plan

I feel like I have not yet been able to guide the client to connect with this kosha, although I believe she has awareness of it. As she would like to continue our work together, my goal is to be able to support her further exploration.

Additional Information
Feedback received from client/group, anecdotal or written

Client has requested to become an "official" client. She feels the benefits she's been experiencing - especially improvements in her digestion - are due to yoga therapy.

Sample of homework given between sessions (after initial homework)

Continue - attending Wednesday and Friday night yoga classes as her routine permits.

Practice - asana at home:

Tadasana -> Uttanasana -> Ardha Uttanasana flow: this could be a gentle practice after your morning walk?

Adho Mukha Svanasana - option to wall or chair support

You could use these asanas as an evening wind down practice:

Bitilasana and Marjaryasana into Balasana

Pavanmuktasana into Supta Matsyendrasana - add support that feels appropriate

Personal reflection from doing client/group.
Rough estimate of time spent in preparation and follow up documentation per session20
What you would change with benefit of hindsight

Honestly I'm not sure I would do anything differently. I feel like she found benefit in every session, and I most definitely learned from her every session.

Questions, problems, areas in which you’d like more support

Ideas for further exploration of anandamaya kosha?

Did you enjoy your service?

Very much. I tell her how proud I am of the work she is doing to take care of herself and further her own healing - and I believe she is setting a tremendous example for her children.
