Homework assignment to client/group

Below are the home practice assignments, the progress will be assessed, and new practice may be added accordingly.

• gentle shoulder rolls and movements
• neck movement practice using visualization
• daily inspirational reading and reflection
• alternate nostril breathing / brahmari breathing
• supine butterfly, supine spinal twist, knee to chest pose, child pose
• median nerve slider, median nerve rocking

Activities

I asked Arnette if there were any physical or mental changes. As I suggested at the previous session, she paid attention to her posture throughout the day, sitting, eating, driving, watching TV, reading, and typing and she corrected her posture. She stopped reading a book in bed, she reported her pain was 50 % better. She also reported daily reading/reflection/ writing is helping her spiritually.

I began with a few minutes of guided meditation. Then we moved to asana practice started with a gentle shoulder stretch and 4 seated poses, supine butterfly, supported spinal twit, knees to chest, and supported child pose, they were held 2-3 minutes each. For her pain caused by a pinched nerve, I demonstrated median nerve slider, and median nerve rocking.

To end the session, I invited her to 15 minutes of yoga nidra followed by alternate nostril breathing.

Client/Group progress summary

There is a significant improvement in her neck pain by correcting her posture.
Seated asanas have improved her digestion and alleviated her LBP caused by
deskbound activities.

Reflection and self-evaluation

Arnette’s comment indicates how posture impacts to physical and mental body, and good posture prevents pain and injury. She mentioned that I choose less pain than reading a book in bed, her effort of lifestyle change is showing the improvement of her neck condition.
The discussion at the previous session worked well and helped her.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

I will follow this care plan and remind her to assess her posture frequently.
