Homework assignment to client/group

Practice asanas 2 - 3 x during the week. Consider the Gunas during her day, when she finds herself amped, triggered, etc. Continue with 3-part breathing and Voo breath - try 4 - 5 X during the week.

Activities

ASANAS
Warm-ups / Sun Salutations / Hip Openers / Twists / Balancing Poses - focused on grounding into the heel of standing leg to stabilize body when balancing. We also discussed pain as a sign to back off. Checking in with the breath - if it's ragged or uneven, most likely a sign you've gone beyond your limit for that day.

STRESS MANAGEMENT
The Gunas. Reviewed all three as an assessment tool to be used throughout the day. Once identified, she can choose from there - breathe, consider need in given moment, take a break, rest, etc. Whether amped, angry, overwhelmed or exhausted, just acknowledging that helps to consider what to do next. Takes you out of the reactive mode too. Even when feeling good, just a simple acknowledgment, is a good way to own your experience in the moment.

BREATHING
Encouraged her to take some mini-pauses in her day for some deep belly breaths with body scans. We also explored the Voo Breath, which was popularized by Dr. Peter Levine. Client especially enjoyed that, its calming effect. We talked a bit about Vagus Nerve Activation.

Client/Group progress summary

Client is always open to trying something new. Shares clear feedback about what she likes. She expresses her gratitude as well. Was most eager to work on balancing. Said the cue to ground into mat with her heel and focusing on drishti made a big difference for her.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I find myself hesitating at times around breath practices. Seems she goes along to be polite, yet at times she obviously enjoying / benefitting from them - especially the Voo breath. She definitely tuned into the experience and sensations and appreciated my explanation about how to incorporate that into her day.
I'm learning and trusting the process.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Continue with more of the same - Asanas - balancing and hip openers. Breathing Practices - continue with 3-part breath, review the Voo Breath and introduce Brahmari, a similar practice. Discuss Raja Yoga - universal nature of Yamas and Niyamas, as principles for daily living. Revisit lifestyle practice of self-appreciation and self-acknowledgement.
