Activities

This report is for the session on 8/2,8 and 8/23

8/2
I began today's session by asking her how she was feeling and if she had noticed any physical or mental changes or challenges since our last meeting. She reported that she is trying many treatment options such as acupuncture and cupping, massage in addition to yoga therapy. I showed her how to correct posture using a strap, she tried it and she stated she would use it. Also, I advised her to re-assess the posture and correct it.

Then I led guided breathing practice and eye movement followed by neck/shoulder stretch and sun salutation. Next, we practiced long-held seated postures including supine spinal twist and child pose.
To end the session, I invited her for 15 minutes of body scan practice to start her day with a relaxed mind.

8/8
I began today's session by asking her how she was feeling and if she had noticed any physical or mental changes or challenges since our last meeting.
Katie reported that her neck pain was slightly better, and she believed the new pillow she had started using was helping. I advised her to continue to check her posture in each situation.
Then I led a few minutes of guided meditation to begin our practice
As for physical movements, we began with gentle neck movement, shoulder stretch, and sun salutation, and I offered seated asana to relax.
To conclude the session, I guided her through 15 minutes of Yoga Nidra and alternate nostril breathing, helping her begin her day with a peaceful mind.

8/23

I began today's session by asking her how she was feeling and if she had noticed any physical or mental changes or challenges since our last meeting.
Katie reported that she saw her primary doctor for an annual check-up, and she expressed her concern about her neck. Her X ray showed minor curving of the spine, and her doctor referred to a specialist, but the appointment is mid-Nov. I demonstrated the gentle movement of median nerve sliding. She said she would try this practice hoping the improvement.

Then I led a few minutes of guided meditation to begin our practice
As for physical movements, we began with gentle neck movement, shoulder stretch, and sun salutation, and I offered seated asanas to relax.
To conclude the session, I guided her through 15 minutes of Yoga Nidra and alternate nostril breathing, helping her begin her day with a peaceful mind.

Client/Group progress summary

Katie’s neck pain has improved compared to when we began the session, but she still experiences some discomfort in her neck. She is willing to continue all practices and treatment, yoga therapy, acupuncture, and cupping. However her emotional state has significantly improved and she is more accepting of this condition saying, “I have been dealing with this for years, it might take some time not a quick fix”.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I began the session with Kaite almost 3 months ago, she was able to modify her lifestyle and became calm and less stressed. I think yogic teachings including 4 locks and keys, ahimsa, Pratipaksha Bhavana is helping her emotional improvement, and she enjoys learning those teachings.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

I will continue my current care plan, I will introduce new practice and wisdom teaching when I find any physical/emotional changes and it is appropriate.
