Homework assignment to client/group

3 past breathing
Cat cow in the chair when taking a break on his computer 3 times a day
At night working with a brief meditation on melting the ice around his frozen shoulder.
Talked about the yogic teaching of non attachment, meaning to set a goal but not being attached to the outcome or how long it will take.
He shared a little about his stressors at work.

Activities

First I ask him to ice his left shoulder
Checking in about his pain level and ROM
Checking in about his breathing
His mood and stress level
Taught him 3 part breathing
Started with centering, mountain pose, shoulder roll, forward bend with his arm swinging freely and in a figure 8 pattern, then alternating, chest to chin with chin going left to right, ear to shoulder, chest openers.
cat cow with going into child pose then puppy pose as much as tolerated.
Then we paused, he iced his shoulder and I led him in a guided relaxation with the picture of imagining an iceberg melting away to unfreeze his shoulder.
Then going on to the back in savasana, knee to chest pose with rolling sideways, then isometric core exercise with holding the knees in place by pressing against my palm holing to the count of 5 and 3 repetitions.
Laying twist with focusing on his breath and relaxation.

Client/Group progress summary

He enjoyed our first session, he liked that he is able to do it online, during his lunch break. He is positive that more frequent sessions and regularity combine with him working on is own will lead to a decrease in his pain.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I feel that I was a able to design a brief session for him with out setting the bar too high. I was able to motivate him to get started with more regular exercises.
I feel optimistic as well.
I feel that I am able to provide a safe space for him

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Will continue with the same asanas for a while to be able to measure the difference in his pain and range of motion.
