Activities

Start with icing his shoulder
Checking in about his pain level and ROM
Checking in about his breathing
His mood and stress level
Taught him 3 part breathing
Started with centering, mountain pose, shoulder roll, forward bend with his arm swinging freely and in a figure 8 pattern, then alternating, chest to chin with chin going left to right, ear to shoulder, chest openers.
Walking his hands up the wall as high as tolerated with an elastic band around his hands, the pause and breathing into the pose, then trying to just go a little further up.
cat cow with going into child pose then puppy pose as much as tolerated.
Then we paused, he iced his shoulder and I led him in a guided relaxation with the picture of imagining an iceberg melting away to unfreeze his shoulder and talked about tapas.
Then going on to the back in savasana, knee to chest pose with rolling sideways, then isometric core exercise with holding the knees in place by pressing against my palm holing to the count of 5 and 3 repetitions.
Laying twist with focusing on his breath and relaxation.

Client/Group progress summary

He states that he continued with his homework over the weekend on his own and he is able to see a little improvement in his ROM of his left shoulder. His pain is improved during the day but then he wakes up in the morning he feels that his shoulder is stiff again. But working on the poses helps loosen up his shoulder during the day he is more aware of this posture.
He is working on managing his stress by staying in the moment and non attachment to the outcome. For example when he now goes into a meeting, he will work on his breathing and he is working on not getting so stressed when things in the meeting don't go his way.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I am continuing to held a safe space for him.I am keeping him motived to work on his poses , mindfulness and non attachment .
I am happy that he is already seeing a bit improvement in his ROM, his shoulders are a more even as opposed to the left shoulder being a bit higher in the beginning.
His breathing is a little deeper now.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

I will add thread the needle and half dog next session.
When he wakes up with shoulder stiffness , I will ask him to ice his shoulder and to do shoulder rolls and pendulum swings.
