Homework assignment to client/group

Keep in mind the practice of non-harm (ahimsa) and start with yourself. yourself. Make an effort not to allow what others say to disturb your peace. Don’t engage, don’t react (‘I am not saying suppression’) will result in no harm to you and others.

Think of yourself in good terms, don’t use negative words to describe yourself.

Along with keeping the mind on non-harm, we must use our will power to accept things that we cannot control and that are painful. As we learned about Tapasya – accepting pain but not causing pain. Accepting pain helps us to become mentally stronger. Accepting things as they are. Living life more simply. Remember the following - “Adapt, adjust, accommodate. Bear insult. Bear injury. The power to control the body and senses comes by Tapasya.” Sri Swami Satchidananda

Repercussions of snapping at someone: If you are snappy with someone, select one thing that you like to do will you give up, or select one thing that you don’t like to do and will do it?
Practice being mindful/present during activities such as:
o Walking the dog.
o Be mindful/present when doing things like cleaning, showering, walking.
o Listen to Krishna Das chants while driving and chanting along.
o Practice becoming present in the Witness to observe tendencies to become snappy and/or angry.
o Practice standing and sitting straight.

Client/Group progress summary

Client was not able to review the homework, so we went over it together in the check in. I am planning to email her the homework and also it to her so she has easier access to it.

Client was not able to practice any of the breathing practices.

Client was still reacting to things that other people say.

Client said “she needs more Yoga Nidra”.

Client is not able to commit to reforming her ergonomic set-up at this time because her house is undergoing renovation. Currently she sits in places like the bed, occasionally she sits in a chair.

Reflection and self-evaluation

Close Out – Client’s phone died. We didn’t get to do a close-out.

Client seems tired a lot.

I think that it's hard for her to put in the effort to begin her own practice.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.

1. Vagus nerve runs through the esophageal hiatus of the diaphragm and diaphragmatic breathing stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) which promotes many health benefits including reducing the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (PHA) axis flow.
2. Filling the lower lungs with air (O2) will help cleanse the lungs of carbon-dioxide, because unless she breaths from the lower lungs they do not receive fresh O2 and the carbon-dioxide may stay there.
3. She will sit upright breathing into the upper chest expanding the ribcage and the lifting the collar bones, and this will help to improve posture and breathing.
