| Homework assignment to client/group | Homework: box breathing. Practice 1 pose each day for 30+ seconds several times a day. Practice daily so the poses can become firmly grounded and rooted and thank our bodies everyday when we wake up. Continue to be aware of posture |
| Activities | Client wanted to continue from the osteopenia sessions. We continued to work with tapas - the burning and discipline and I added gratitude. Gratitude for our body for getting into these poses and holding. Grateful that our bodies still function well with osteopenia. Gratitude for ourselves for taking care of our bodies. I introduced her to the finding her breath as the anchor. Seated Warm ups: shoulder rolls, neck stretch, wrist rolls, side stretches, twists and bouncy twists I had her show me all the 4 poses (mountain, W1, W2, tree) we had went over during the osteopenia classes. This took some time because we had to relearn W1 and spent some time working on tree pose. When in tree pose, we had to find the breath as our anchor, see if we can soften in some places as tree pose was challenging for her. Introduced her to a new pose - Paschimottanasana (seated forward fold, long spine) using a yoga strap. Sitting on a blanket to help with the hips. We started out just sitting with legs straight and spine nice and long. Toes and kneecaps pointing up, abdominal engagement and lifting of the spine, shoulders back. Just getting past the initial tightness. We then proceeded to use the strap around feet. We did the pose 3x, each time holding it for a 5+ seconds longer, finding your breath, finding the inner stillness as she breathed smoothly. Last time we did the pose, we hinged forward from the hips being mindful not to collapse the head, shoulders, chest. We held each pose for 30+ seconds Cool down: |
| Client/Group progress summary | DB has really tight hips and shoulders. She was uncomfortable with sitting at 90 degree angle in paschimottanasana with leg engagement and long spine. She is eager to learn and is able to focus on her breath when in uncomfortable poses for her. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | I'll need to continue with having her show me how to do each pose. Next time starting with paschimottanasana |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | Continue with seated pose. taking the time to allow her spine, legs, hips and mind to relax. Encourage patience with oneself |
