Homework assignment to client/group

Pick any pose we have done in the past, hold them for 30+ seconds a couple times a day.
Keep deep breathing throughout the day and make sure she incorporates some movement at work.

Activities

She shared with me she had a very stressful week because of work. She did some deep breathing and was able to become calm during the stressful moment. I offered her an affirmation (raja yoga) along with her deep breathing. I suggested when she takes those deep breaths, so say to herself "I am at ease with all situations"

Breath work - box breathing

Seated Warm ups: shoulder rolls, neck stretch, wrist rolls, side stretches, twists and soupy circles

We went over some of the previous poses and introduced, Paschimottanasana (seated forward fold, long spine) using a yoga strap. Sitting on a blanket to help with the hips. We started out just sitting with legs straight and spine nice and long. Toes and kneecaps pointing up, abdominal engagement and lifting of the spine, shoulders back. Just getting past the initial tightness. We then proceeded to use the strap around feet. We did the pose 3x, each time holding it for a 5+ seconds longer, finding your breath, finding the inner stillness as she breathed smoothly. Last time we did the pose, we hinged forward from the hips being mindful not to collapse the head, shoulders, chest.

We laid on our backs (prone) did Paschimottanasana on our backs with 1 leg at a time with the strap. Explained, if her back is sore, she can do the same pose on her back with the same breath work and muscle engagements.

We held each pose for 30+ seconds

Client/Group progress summary

She is very active and said yoga has defiantly been helping with her stress because she's been deep breathing more. She now notices how she sometimes holds her breath in stressful situations and is reminded to breathe. (mindfulness)

Reflection and self-evaluation

Client is always eager and ready. It's easy with GB, she's very body aware.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
