Homework assignment to client/group

• Three-part breathing and meditation 15 minutes daily
• 15-20 minutes daily yoga -joint movement, child-table-downward dog, sun salutation, cobra, hand to big toe, bound angle pose, leg up the chair and savasana
• Keeping daily log – energy levels, activities, diet, sleep quality

Activities

The client has a history of lower lumbar disk compression (bulging disk), now generally reduced flexibility, especially of the hips and knees. The session focuses on increasing flexibility and building upper body and core strength.
• Check in –
• Centering – three-part breath followed by body and breath awareness followed
• Warm up – head & neck, spine (lateral and seated cat-cow) and shoulders
• Reclining butterfly
• Forward resting butterfly
• Savasana – guided imagery
• Three-part breathing
• Brahmari breath
• Meditation – gratitude
• Yogic wisdom – brahmacharya, ahimsa (give herself permission to rest) and Svadhyaya (understand oneself – what make her feel good and what make her tired).

Client/Group progress summary

The client has been keeping a daily log of her energy levels, activities, and diet. By doing that she noticed that she felt exhausted on the day that she lifted weight at the gym and did not have enough protein in her diet. The client is feeling better overall, although she recently had a gastric reflux two days ago (after going to dinner at her friends’ house) and was still recovering from it. She feels that she has more energy, and her back is not as sore after doing yard work as she was in the past.

Reflection and self-evaluation

Because the client is still recovering from stomach upset, I decided to teach restorative yoga instead of a typical hatha class. I have learned to be flexible with my plan and to meet the client where she is.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
