| Session Date | 09/12/2024 |
| Session Number | 11 |
| Total Session Minutes | 90 |
| Homework assignment to client/group | Kirtan Kriya as part of preparation for work routine. Pratipaksha bhavana/Taking in the Good 2-3 times per day. Up dog PT movements daily. |
| Activities | Center, ground, check-in after two week break, physical, mental & emotional. Warm-up, six movements of the spine; down dog, plank, up dog at the wall; lunge to stretch hip flexors (particularly right side;) prone up dog, guided relaxation with awareness practice. Discussed Taking in the Good and Rick Hanson’s work as similar to pratipaksha bhavana. Practiced kirtan kriya for six minutes followed by one minute of silence. |
| Client/Group progress summary | Pain=4-no back pain, fatigue=7. The client’s vertigo is worsening. She had had a fall in a parking lot while alone. She bruised her face around the left eye. No other serious physical injuries. Her PCP scheduled a balance clinic session for her at a hospital 2 hours away. Her appointment is on November 6th. Concerned about her recent falls, I suggested she tell her PCP about all of her recent falls and try to get the balance clinic appointment moved up. Advised by her Hallmark store boss to take 2-3 weeks off after two falls at that job. Client decided not to return to that job for fear of injury due to high possibility of falling and concern for injury. Reevaluated client’s goals. Will focus on creating stability to keep client safe & avoid falling, stretching to alleviate pain, Kirtan Kriya for concentration and brain health, and relaxation as the client is overworked and fatigued. Reviewed gunas again: window of sattva. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | Bring attention to negative speech and self-talk real-time during sessions. Example: “My life is a disaster,” as client departs session. Feeling discouraged by client what seems like lack of progress. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | Gunas self-evaluation, WHO questionnaire, Kirtan Kriya in-person with recording, journal prompt-What am I actively working to shift to the positive? How would it feel to be free of the attachment or aversion to this pattern? Followed up with client with tips for getting her balance clinic appointment moved up suggested to me by a friend who was treated there. Client did not follow through on the recommendation. |
