| Session Date | 09/26/2024 |
| Session Number | 13 |
| Total Session Minutes | 150 |
| Homework assignment to client/group | Kirtan Kriya, 6 minute version, and try the 12 minute version from links I provided. Pratipaksha bhavana/Taking in the Good 3 times per day: morning, mid-day, and before going to sleep. Up dog PT movements daily. Repeat words of affirmation card before and after up dog sequence.) |
| Activities | Centering, grounding and check-in. Long time with check-in after client resigned the second of three part-time jobs. Affirmation and color card selection. Short time standing: movements of the spine, downward facing dog at the wall with calf stretches. Dancing Ganesha, empty coat sleeves, pausing to notice. Review of client’s guna and dosha chart responses with discussion of these general topics, their meaning and fuller understanding of herself. Talked about the anger she feels toward her former employer and her limited physical abilities since her most recent surgeries. Delivered the client’s personalized guided imagery. |
| Client/Group progress summary | Pain=0, Fatigue=5. Client much lighter in energy since leaving Target job. Described it as “soul sucking,” creating frustration, depression, and anxiety. She spent most of the day in bed the previous Saturday and Sunday. Still feeling fatigued during session, yawning less than other sessions over the summer. Vertigo much diminished, though still present. Discussion of the doshas as inherent characteristics versus the fluidity of the gunas and the window of sattva resonated with the client. It relieved some self-criticism around what she perceives as lack of motivation. Client shared that she leads a wheelchair restricted neighbor in weight training and the progress he has made. She visited with her best friend from before the accident whom she had not seen since her accident. Another old friend reached out to her as well. She offered to reformat my guna & dosha charts, utilizing her past experience in creating and conducting surveys. I see these as positive, bright signs of her desire to reengage with old friends, to be of service, and being willing to utilize her talents are bearing fruit. The client has resumed her group yoga classes and shared that she felt a bit more confident after the Wednesday yoga class. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | Riding these waves of life can be exhausting for both client and yoga therapist. Remembering the importance of self-care for both as well. Thankful for mentorship. Thankful there has been a shift toward the positive for this client for however long it lasts. The client attributes her pain relief to our work together. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | Movements to break through stuckness and release anger, grief and loss. Doshas, life balance, moderation. Suggest Abyanga. The client is familiar with this self care technique. Mention Kriya yoga: tapas, svadyaya & Ishvara pranidhana, Kirtan Kriya in-person with recording, journal prompt. |
