Client/Group progress summary

The client’s breathing pattern has improved; she did not struggle with three-part breath and felt restful after breathing practice. In addition to her own health, the client has been dealing with other issues, including the health of her husband (he has COPD) and bursting water pipe. These, of course, caused additional stress to her life. I read ‘The Guest House’ by Rumi to her and discussed Tapas; she loved it and did take a screenshot of the poem that I shared with her via a text message. Asanas were mostly done on the mat; the client was stronger than I thought, although we need to improve her balance.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I have learned to think quickly and to bring up yogic wisdom that is relevant to the client at each moment. I did not plan to discuss tapas, but because the client mentioned things that went wrong or as she planned. The Guest House reading was done on a fly in response to my conversations with the client. The client liked the Secret Garden guided imagery better than the one I did last week (being in a protective bubble). Being in a garden with butterflies and bird bring her joy. She also likes imagining that she is an oak tree, a sanctuary for birds and critters during the Tree pose.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

I will continue to work with on improving balance. Practice will focus on balancing root chakra. Strengthening flow (e.g., Sun salutation) will be included to address Vata and Kapha imbalance.
