Client/Group progress summary

He looked a little depressed, he talked about a friend who is in Israel and all the craziness that is happening there, cried when talking about that. He said he was really negative during the week. His wife told me he had a breakdown and she almost took him to the hospital.
He is not practicing the exercises.
We practiced the Breath of Joy, which can help with depression. We talked about ahimsa and seeing others and circumstances as opportunities. Compassion is a beautiful feeling but being drowned in compassion is not good for you or for others. We do what we can.
He said he has to work more on his breathing.
Because of his deviated septum, he had some problems with alternated nostril breathing. Next time I’ll show him how to use a neti pot to clear his nostrils and be more prepared for pranayama.

“In clearing the head and sinuses, the use of the neti pot can help us deal with even the psychological blockages that reduce the quality of our lives. Emotional disturbances of anger, fear, anxiety, irritability, or depression are often linked to poor breathing patterns and reduced functioning of the nostrils. Clearing the nostrils with the neti pot can add to our psychological well-being and give us some breathing space to deal with our emotional issues in life!”
David Frawley. Neti: Healing Secrets of Yoga and Ayurveda (Kindle Locations 109-112). Kindle Edition.

We practiced meditation with breath and words he chose: inhaling Love and exhaling peace and relaxation.
He spent more time balancing in the tree pose, about 20 seconds on the left leg and more than 40 seconds on the right.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I think I needed more time with him. He said these sessions are “the best birthday gift for him” (his birthday is 10/04)! He is still not practicing regularly which could help him a lot, maybe a little seed of yoga is being planted there!

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
