| Homework assignment to client/group | 1. client to continue asana practice; decided to add some deep breathing with arm movements laterally up and down, slowly to asana. Client likes butterflies and she is able to 'play' and pretend she is a butterfly laterally raising her arms up and down, allowing for both deep inhalation and exhalation as she abducts and adducts respectively, and also improving mobility/flexibility. Decided to add this as client is doing the other assigned pranayama practice. Sequence is now: Mother to continue to do this with the client. |
| Activities | Reviewed homework assignment of self care plan; see below: It was difficult for client to do the chicken dance/pranayama upon wakening as she forgot, but, was able to do the asana sequence with guidance of mother; states she likes the practice. She continues to go outside, eat a meals with family. She is very proud of her puzzles that she puts together; mother was able to make sure the house was silent except for 432 Hz music and client was able to concentrate on her puzzle without interruption. Father and mother both state they feel client is improving, but they still notice that she has hallucinations. Medications were adjusted. Overall, mother and father state that the client is more functional at home; she continues to help her mom with dishes. They have noted that when she goes to settings with groups of people, she starts to have delusions (ideas of reference, that people are talking about her or referring to her in their conversations) so she has been going outside into the park or other natural areas without crowds. Continued to work with client to identify negative thoughts about herself and to challenge them with opposite positive thoughts. She has noted that has thoughts of being a 'loser.' Discussed this and helped client challenge this thought with her successes in being helpful to her family. In session, reviewed asana practice and added abduction and adduction of arms; client liked this as she enjoys pretending she is a butterfly; client was very happy to do this; laughing and smiling during asana. Mother participated. Client's sleep has improved. |
| Client/Group progress summary | Thus far, client's symptoms have improved. She is still not comfortable being alone in the house, but more and more of our sessions are done with her parents in an adjoining room, while in the past parents were in front of the camera most of the time. Episode of agitation occur about once or twice a week, about 5 minutes each. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | I am continuing to learn and adapt to the client's abilities and needs at each session. I realize that it would not make sense to continue to add to the asana sequence due to the client's difficult with concentration. The calming of the mind allowing for the feeling of health and wellbeing is consistent with Chinese spiritual beliefs. Both parents and also client have taken in this teaching and are helping client to have environment with less distractions and greater calm. Meditation in its pure form is not currently possible for the client; she does not like being alone. It is for this reason, that I have worked with her on using puzzle building as a meditative practice. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | 1. continue deep breathing, asana sequence, walks outside, using silence and sound healing 432Hz music. |
