| Yoga philosophy/wisdom research reference(s) | I'm reflecting on Sutra 2:46 to begin this group: sthirha sukhamasanam. It's important to teach the group how to modify their practices as needed to continue practice even when impacted by the maladies they face. |
| Scientific research reference(s), why chosen, how you plan to incorporate 1-3 | Madhivanan P, Krupp K, Waechter R, Shidhaye R. Yoga for Healthy Aging: Science or Hype? Adv Geriatr Med Res. 2021;3(3). The typical integral chair yoga and Dr. Mala's Cardiac Medical Yoga (CMY) practices align with the proposed practices in this research study (45 minutes once a week). The benefits from the study include increased mobility, reduced risk for slip and fall, protection against cognitive decline, increased flexibility, strength, and balance, and improved sleep and mental well-being. These benefits cover all the goals and directly or indirectly address the conditions of clients. This group will incorporate a 60-minute session including 45 minutes of physical movement (incorporating CMY techniques since 2/3 of client's have Dx HTN) and 15 minutes for pranayama, check-in, and reflection. |

| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
