| Homework assignment to client/group | 1. client to do short JAPA practice of upper back/shoulders/neck/arms and eye movements. 2. continue breath practices AM and PM and continue guided meditation in the daytime and yoga nidra at night. |
| Activities | 1. reviewed client's experiences with yoga nidra and other practices; also reviewed her experiences with breath practices and use of affirmation statements. She has found the affirmations to be helpful and is considering having them tattooed on her arms. She found it easy to do the breath practices in the morning, because she usually has a lag between when she wakes up and when she leaves the bed; does breathing practices while lying down. 2. Taught eye movements which included a bilateral temple massage and a JAPA sequence: Neck bends, neck circles, shoulder shrugs, arms adducted and abducted, arms flexed and extended at shoulder joint. With arms straight and flexed at shoulder joint, taught 'stop sign' extension of wrists and then flexion bilaterally. Taught wrists circles as well. With neck motion, was careful not to have client hyperextend neck. Hug self motion was done and then seated baby cobra. After this time, client states she feels some looseness in her upper body. Client states she will remember movements and declined to have a recording. |
| Client/Group progress summary | Client progressing well. Her sleep has improved substantially and she has noted that she feels more in the moment when she uses her affirmations. The breath practices are also seeming to help. Her breathing today was deeper and less rapid. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | I have enjoyed working with this client; she really was so anxious when I first met her. This is the last documented session for now, but I will continue to work with her. Plan to discuss use of nature walking meditation (forest bathing) in order to help her feel calmer. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | 1. teach about nature meditation/nature walking. |
