| Homework assignment to client/group | 1. client and mom to do yoga nidra recording from you tube in Spanish. They can decide when and how frequently. |
| Activities | Client states she has been attending school, missing one day last week. Mother states she has noted that client is more active around the house, staying less in her room and sleep for both has improved; about one night of not sleeping well for YVM during the last week. Still with some anxiety during school. Mother exited room. Reviewed with client, her chart of thoughts, emotions, and core beliefs. Used opposite thoughts to counter negative core beliefs. Reviewed brahmari breaths, 3 part breathing, and alternate nostril breathing. Discussed body scan and also discussed yoga nidra. Client opted to do yoga nidra. States she would like mother to attend activity. As such, invited mother into room and discussed with her yoga nidra. She agreed to try. They were able to use blankets that are kept in a cabinet in the room and were able to lie on the floor, with camera being readjusted. Did yoga nidra script from book Yoga Nidra by Swami Satyananda Saraswati, Pg 81 Yoga Nidra 1. Used 432 hz Steve alpern music from you tube playing in background. It took a while of mother to relax and she eventually closed her eyes; client closed her eyes as well. Emailed staff to let them know not to interrupt us but to be available in case someone needed to enter the room to help. By the end, I was myself feeling relaxed. Client and mother both stated they enjoyed the experience. Wanted to continue to do this practice. I did not record myself when it was being done. Mom to discuss yoga nidra with her therapist when she accesses care. Guided them to a yoga nidra practice that is on you tube 30 minutes called Yoga Nidra en espanol NSDR 30 mins, relajacion profunda e inmediato de cuerpo. Expressed that if they do not have a you tube subscription, they would get interrupted by commercials when using this and both agreed to look into it. Encouraged mom and client to sit in waiting room until they both felt grounded enough to drive home. |
| Client/Group progress summary | Client is sleeping better with less missed days of school; only one missed day last week. She is bonding with her mother in a different way and mom herself likely has mental health disorder that she is now looking to client to help her with, as client has experiences mother does not have. I feel this is helping the relationship and is also decreasing feelings of shame client has regarding mental illness. Anxiety has improved as well. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | I'v not used the Bihar school yoga nidra practice with clients before; I've been concerned about it being too spiritual and making clients uncomfortable; however, this practice that I did speaks only of consciousness and did not contain any concepts or wordings that made there clients feel uncomfortable. It is helpful to have both mom and client do this practice together; these is a concept of the group unconscious and yoga nidra can be healing to the unconscious mind individually; there is no reason to think it would not also be healing to the group unconscious as well. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | 1. consider doing another round of yoga nidra with client. |
