Daily Mindfulness practice

Until we meet again, pause throughout your day to practice mindfulness for just a few minutes.

a. "Mindful Wakeup: Start with a Purpose"

1. On waking, lay in your bed or sit in a chair in a relaxed posture.
2. Take 3 long, deep nourishing breaths – in through the nose, and a cleansing exhalation out through the mouth.
3. Ask yourself, “What is my intention for today?”
4. Set your intention for the day.

5. Throughout the day, check in with yourself.
Notice if your days are better, more in line with how you’d like them to be.

6. Journaling prompt: How easy is it for you to integrate a new experience or lesson?

Client/Group progress summary

Alternate nostril breathing, client had heard of this but never tried it. We practiced for a bit then talked about how to move forward with the practice, when to use it, and why. Checked in with the pain level. Client had moved to bedroom where it was quieter and where she laid on the bed for Yoga Nidra. The asanas appear to help the upper body but the client continues to experience pain in her hips. She plans to get a second opinion in the coming weeks since she still feels pain and can't walk. She states that in Yoga Nidra she is able to disconnect from her pain most of the time though she can get distracted/her mind wanders. That's why she moved to the bedroom where she can close the door and be in a more tranquil place.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I was happy that the client moved to quieter place in her home. She was able to close the door. The space was light and airy, quieter and more suited to a quiet practice of yoga. We were also able to speak in private. I felt better that PAM was able to let go of some of the stress around practicing since the other room was open. We'll continue to practice in the bedroom, she said, because she felt better there.

I need to revisit the asanas that focus on the lower back, legs and hips.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Research asanas that can strengthen the legs that are within the clients' ROM and won't cause pain. Read more about lumbar spinal stenosis and possible outcomes - rate of decline, possible symptoms as it worsens, what to avoid at the point where she is now. Talk about the journaling prompt.
