| Session Instructions (Not Mentoring) | Your session outline should be a practice adapted to the needs of that client, including:
Tools from each module should be used (not on each client – but overall) |
| Session Date | 10/12/2024 |
| Session Number | 10 |
| Total Session Minutes | 90 |
| Homework assignment to client/group | • Three-part breathing and meditation 15 minutes daily |
| Activities | The client has a history of lower lumbar disk compression (bulging disk), now generally reduced flexibility, especially of the hips and knees. The session focuses on increasing flexibility and building upper body and core strength. |
| Client/Group progress summary | The client’s energy level has improved. She did 5 hours of hiking before coming to class and did not look exhausted. However, she mentioned slight back pain during the hike. The average fatigue assessment score improved (from 2.7 in session 6 to 1.5, scale 1 to 5 with 1 = not at all, 5 = very much). The average global health score improved from 3.5 in session 6 to 4, with 5 being excellent. The pain score in the Global Health assessment changed from 2 to 1. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | Although the client did not show any signs of fatigue when she showed up for the session, I changed my plan entirely by including poses that would release the tension of her lower back and hip as well as stretching the leg muscles. It was a good decision. The client felt good afterward and the tightness of the lower back was gone. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | This is the last session of the case study. However, the client would like to continue working with me. We will work on improving flexibility and strength. |
