Session Number2

Homework assignment to client/group

This client's homework is the same, to sit in silence with no technology for at least a few minutes before bed and observe how the mind feels when he does so. He also is to continue with his pranayama practice, for at least a few minutes 2-3 times a day, with the addition of the option of kapalabhati if he feels himself grieving and low energy and feels that he doesn't need to rest.

Activities

Kosha check in, Jnana yoga wisdom teaching, and a rishikesh series yoga practice including the main postures of leg lifts, sun salutations, cobra, single legged locust, uttanasana, standing wide legged forward fold, Goddess, shoulderstand, balasana, pigeon, and then half lord of the fishes twist. Pranayama practice included Nadi Shodhana, dirgha pranayama, and the "ha" breathing variation of kapalabhati. We did yoga nidra, silent meditation, and then closed with a brief chant.

Client/Group progress summary

This client has already made progress, and is very into the pranayama. He has been - and plans to continue - going to work early so he has time for pranayama.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I feel that I once again got carried away with a lot of talking at the beginning, and it cut into our practice time. This is something I will need to work on with this client.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Next session will be similar, but with a specific teaching on the 4 locks and keys and pratipaksha bhavana. I will also introduce Swami Sivananda Radha's divine light invocation.
