Homework assignment to client/group

Client is to continue his morning sadhana, and take up a svadhyaya practice, reading the yoga sutras, the vivekachudmani, or any other holy texts for at least a few minutes every day.

Activities

Today we did our guna check in today, and then moved into a discussion and general teaching about chair yoga, which included both using the chair as a prop and doing an adapted hatha yoga practice sitting in the chair. We started with pranayama - Nadi Shodhana, Kapalabhati with breath retentions (new), and extended exhale breathing. Then, we moved onto an adapted chiar yoga practice, including self-massage, neck movements, cat/cow, seated cobra, seated bridge, seated fish, seated forward fold, wide legged forward fold, standing dynamic forward fold on chair back, wide legged forward fold with head on chair seat, a seated twist, and then a Jnana Yoga guided meditation.

Client/Group progress summary

Client has been doing a wonderful job with his sadhana, but has some nerve related neck pain that has been flaring up recently, which he thinks is due to his hot yoga practice. We are going to be working more on chair yoga and accessible practices from now on.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I feel that our sessions continue to go well. I am so grateful that we have so many tools available to alleviate suffering.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Next session we will get into a discussion of Bhakti Yoga, as we have yet to discuss that, and continue with our chair yoga practices.
