Homework assignment to client/group

1. Joint Freeing Practice

2. Breathing Practice (alternate nostril breathing, brahmari breathing)

3. Guided Meditation

Activities

I began the session by asking Julie, Liliana, and Jocelyne if there had been any changes since we last met. I also asked if they were able to practice joint freeing and breathing, which I had asked them to do at the previous assessment session.

I led guide breathing practice for a few minutes and moved to a quick body scan to observe each part of the body and acknowledge any sensations, including pain.
Then, I led neck/shoulder stretch and joint freeing on the chair, with forward and lateral stretching supported by the chair. For breathing practice, I demonstrated alternate nostril breathing and observed their practice.
I shared the importance of appreciating what you can do rather than focusing on what you can’t, using the analogy of a marathon runner. This runner could no longer run a full marathon due to physical limitations and initially stopped running. However, over time, he discovered that he still could enjoy running 5Ks and learned to appreciate his ability to run a shorter distance.
For the final relaxation, I guided a 15-minute body scan with a visualization of pain melting away to help relax both physically and mentally.

Client/Group progress summary

I asked Jocelyne and Liliana about their breathing and their breathing looked normal.
Liliana found the joint freeing practice was not easy for her but emotionally beneficial, and she noticed some improvement in her knee through breaching techniques.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I realized that group sessions are more difficult than individual therapy sessions because the clients have the same conditions but the severity is not the same.
Julie mentioned meditation apps like "Calm" which she, Liliana, and Jocelyne can access for free as a benefit from their union. Since they are all retired teachers, I realized that this group is a good one because they can share information and have common topics to discuss.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

I will continue to follow this care plan for the next several sessions. I may modify or add other practice based on the feedback from them.
