Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.

Adjustments and adaptations you made to your care plan,

She was not comfortable with bhujangasana, then I changed the back bend to salamba bhujangasana (sphinx), and she enjoyed it.
In the second session, I added the Netra Vyayaman exercises, because she told me her doctor said there was no problem in doing them, although they wouldn’t work for dry eyes. But She wanted to give it a try and the eye exercises also help relax the temples, eyes, and mind, which is good for her too.
She had a vision when she was asleep of something twisting inside the region of the belly and chest. During the session, I suggested that we could work the psoas muscle that is in that region (T12, lumbar, and also inner thigh) and explained to her the relationship between psoas and stress.
At the third session, she brought a song that she said would translate her new phase after yoga therapy, and then we sang together.

Client/Group Goals

any progress towards goals
Her goal was to improve her physical and mental health with the tools of yoga therapy and she said she achieved that.
review and revision of goals
She needs to keep practicing to incorporate more and more of what she has gained.

Report briefly on each Kosha belowProgress toward wellness or worsening reported by the client/group or that you observed in the following areas
Physical level

More strength and flexibility with daily practice.

Energetic level

More vibrant than the first session.

Emotional

Felling safer.

Intellectual / Sense of self

She could observe herself and expand her sense of self.

Spiritual orientation and support plan

Her spiritual orientation is very broad but mainly catholic. She liked to have a yogic perspective on death, as in the last session we talked about the fear of death (abhinivesha) that she mentioned in her intake. She said she had this fear of burning in hell. I told her two funny (but also deep) stories of Paramahansa Yogananda on the subject and she loved it. Fear causes anxiety, therefore the healing path to anxiety is to face one’s fears.

Additional Information
Feedback received from client/group, anecdotal or written

Some of her messages:
You can't imagine how grateful I am! I'm your biggest fan! I admire you so much! Ever since I met you, I've felt love radiating from you! You're a wonderful example to me! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!
I confess that all this work has affected me a lot... maybe better to say, I'm paying more attention to myself. Seeing the shadows is a challenge. But I'm really enjoying it!
I feel more sensitive, and more attentive to my inner self, illuminating the shadows. I had an energy discharge in a dream and I also cried a lot. I was very tired but I rested, and I respected myself. And everything was great!!!

Sample of homework given between sessions (after initial homework)

Practice the bhastrika pranayama which we did together with the movement of your arms. Practice every day in the morning. It’s very energetic!
“This breath is very good for dysthymia, because the vagus nerve is stimulated, which is a known treatment for depression. There is also a probable release of feel-good hormones oxytocin and prolactin.
Watch this 2 minutes video and practice this pranayama with Amy Weintraub, creator of Life Force Yoga. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUytJJDAHk0&t=52s
Journaling practice
eye exercises (Netra Vyayamam)
Progressive relaxation
Any time in the day: awareness of your breath and body.

Personal reflection from doing client/group.
Rough estimate of time spent in preparation and follow up documentation per sessionFor the first session I spent about 10 hours. For the other two sessions, I spent about 8 hours.
What you would change with benefit of hindsight

I can't think of anything I should have done differently.

Questions, problems, areas in which you’d like more support

I took a long time to search about diseases and healing through Yoga Therapy. Lots of time reading, and exploring. I really love to do it but time is limited.
My husband was in ICU.
I needed support on Trauma-informed issues. I do not feel ready to deal with patients with trauma.

Did you enjoy your service?

I loved it! It’s amazing to see how Yoga Therapy can help people.
