Activities

I began today’s session by asking Dan if he had experienced any new challenges or changes since our last meeting.
He reported experiencing pain from his left lower back to the back of the knee while walking for more than 30 mins, which he believes is related to a sciatic nerve issue. He had a similar problem years ago when he was walking a lot while working. But this was not serious and he said he is paying attention more while he walks. I am looking into yoga for sciatica so that I can offer to alleviate pain from this.

I led a few minutes of breathing practice and eye movement practice. Then we moved to physical practice, joint freeing on the chair. After that, balancing practice includes heel-to-toe walking and one leg standing, and forward bending while holding the back of the chair. For practice on the mat, supine spinal twist, sphinx pose.
The session ended with 15 minutes of yoga nidra to relax his body and mind, followed by a brief meditation.

Client/Group progress summary

Dan continues to practice regularly and maintains his physical and mental stabilities.
I gradually added new physical practice, he tries and enjoys new asanas on the chair and mat even though some of them are challenging for him, but he modifies them. Because he was away from physical exercises for 2 years, and he is regaining his strength gradually.

Reflection and self-evaluation

Since there are a few more sessions with Dan, I am trying to ask about his concerns and goals so that I can provide practices he can continue his own. He reported that he tried seated Taichi practice by moving his upper body and visualizing the movement of the lower body, he noticed differently but he enjoyed it.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

I will continue to follow this care plan for the next several sessions, additional asana will be introduced gradually to strengthen his physical body.
