Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.

Adjustments and adaptations you made to your care plan,

I did not make any noticeable adjustments.

Client/Group Goals

Going within to observe (interoceptive attention) how the body feels as we Move in the Poses. A population of senior citizens seeking relief from stress.

By the end of the second session, one of the senior participants, Fatima, reported that her shoulder was feeling better.

No other noticeable progress except that some of the seniors came to every class and mindfully did the poses and commented on how at their age some of the moves where not easy and they have never done anything like those movements.

Report briefly on each Kosha belowProgress toward wellness or worsening reported by the client/group or that you observed in the following areas
Physical level

As reported above, one of the senior participants reported that her shoulder condition got better. There was no report of worsening from any of the seniors.

All of the senior citizens appreciated Progressive Deep Relaxation - Yoga Nidra for stress relief.

Energetic level

Most of the seniors breathe normally, although they did not know where they were breathing to until they were guided through the ‘Observe the breath technique, from stress management class.’ We did this technique in every class and by the last session we discussed what it is to breathe into the belly as opposed to the upper chest and they also understood how diaphragmatic breathing helps them to breathe through the three parts starting with the belly and why that is important.

Emotional

I found that all the members of the group seemed to be emotionally stable and friendly.

Intellectual / Sense of self

All of the members of the group seem to feel well with their sense of self.

Spiritual orientation and support plan

All of the seniors listened carefully to the wisdom teachings and some commented about things such as non-harm beginning with their own bodies at their age.

All of the seniors cared for each other. They advised each other often, smiled and helped each other. For example, they reminded each other of when the class was starting.

All of the seniors in the group have a spiritual orientation – it can be related to family, music, feeling connection to love and peace, God and service.

Additional Information
Feedback received from client/group, anecdotal or written

Fatima said was seeking relief from stress because she has a relative that is sick. She came to all of the classes.

Fatima had pain in her tooth/jaw on the left. In Netra Viyayamum after we rubbed the palms together and place the hands on the eyes then on other parts of the body - Fatima placed her hands on the jaw where she had felt pain all morning. She told all of the class later on the pain in the jaw had left after she did that.

Gaby expressed that she thought all of the members needed deep relaxation.

Marianela who started in the group during the 3rd session and who had said that she could not close her eyes during meditation, was able to close her eyes throughout Yoga Nidra. She said that "it helped her".
All of the seniors were grateful and said thank you.

Sample of homework given between sessions (after initial homework)

• Continue to practice a few poses and diaphragmatic breathing for a few minutes in the morning and in the evening.
• Sit in a comfortable location and practice six minutes of Deep Relaxation a few times a week.
• Use your breath to change your mood. If you find yourself moody do diaphragmatic breathing to change your mood. As you breath in, think cheerfulness, as you breath out think moody. Limit things that cause moodiness such as watching the News.
