| Session Instructions (Not Mentoring) | Your session outline should be a practice adapted to the needs of that client, including:
Tools from each module should be used (not on each client – but overall) |
| Session Date | 10/31/2024 |
| Session Number | 1 |
| Total Session Minutes | 90 |
| Homework assignment to client/group | Client is to practice meditation snacks and movement snacks throughout the day, every few hours. In addition, he is to do his gentle movements, practice pranayama, and engage in inspirational reading before bed instead of playing a video game he's been playing "too much". |
| Activities | Kosha check in, Raja Yoga philosophy wisdom teaching, lying leg lifts, Side lying king dancer, side lying leg lifts, single leg locust variation, slow, gentle, dynamic utkatasana - uttanasana, downward dog exploration, reclined pigeon, supine twist, resonance breathing, HA breath as an introduction to kapalabhati, progressive muscle relaxation, sports visualization meditation. |
| Client/Group progress summary | Since this is our first real session, most of the session was setting expectations updating goals, and introducing practices. He specifically requested movements to help with his hamstring and related knee pain, and a sports visualization, so we did some of what he "wants" while also giving him some of what he "needs". |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | I feel that this meeting went very well. He gave me positive feedback at the end of the session and said he is very excited for the next session. I feel that I did a good job adjusting in the moment, and am starting to gain confidence. Having a large variety of scripts and practices at my disposal in an attempt to begin to organize my yoga therapy practice has proven to be very useful. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | Next session, we will introduce more hamstring and knee stabilizing movements, including more standing and balancing movements, like high lunge and tree, while also adding to what we practiced today and maintaining a general rishikesh series sequence. I also plan to introduce Bhakti Yoga and talk more about meaning and connection, as his feelings of disconnection from purpose came up during his check in, and I feel that there is a way for him to conceptualize devotion in a way that will serve him. |
