Homework assignment to client/group

Give themselves yoga mini-breaks during their work day, including stretches linked to the breath. Include standing, walking, and full diaphragmatic breathing during the mini-breaks. As much as possible, get outside and walk and/or focus on the breath. Extended exhale to release stress and focus the mind.

Activities

Center, ground, check-in. The client described the pain they feel with the torn cornea and their strategies to cope with it. They spoke of the financial stress of clients canceling appointments and their need to keep working through the pain they’re experiencing.
Spinal movements, hip circles, seated pigeon, hamstring and quad stretches, joint freeing series for hips and knees, sun breaths, empty coat sleeves. Standing lunge, Achilles stretches. Extended exhale. Guided relaxation, somatic preceded by awareness practice. Scheduling, requested client feedback/evaluation. Reflection.

Client/Group progress summary

Client was recovering from a torn cornea in their left eye. They felt competent to continue with the session and looked forward to it. I offered a longer yoga nidra to allow them to close their eyes for a while, giving them a screen break from their many hours of online client meetings.

Reflection and self-evaluation

The client appreciates the guided meditations, switching roles from being the facilitator. They have shown an affinity to intentions of safety and security. Offer those consistently. Return to rings of protection. Research other stretches for the quads and hamstrings for the client and possibly offer in next session. Research fibromyalgia and possible yoga techniques addressing the symptoms of it.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Similar to this session. Adjust as is appropriate for the client’s needs on the day. Offer a variety of quad stretches. Possibly a meditation around the 1st chakra for safety, security and stability, including financial stability.
