Yogic wisdom: non-attachment (letting go) and acceptance

Client/Group progress summary

The client tried walking meditation as we discussed about this at the end of the last class. She noticed how her body felt as she walked and observed her surroundings. She noticed a hummingbird nest and noted that as hopeful sign. She was grateful that I suggested her to try walking meditation. Her husband has not been doing very well. He has sleep apnea and has been diagnosed with COPD. While she is supporting her husband, she does not allow that to be a source of stress. She reread the Letting Go chapter from Jon Kabat Zinn’s book that I left a copy with her as a reminder. When she starts to feel stressed, she thinks about the teaching that we discussed during the class, e.g., non-attachment and she finds that extremely helpful. We also discussed Sangha, i.e., having a community who she can turn to so that she does not feel that she is alone in this world. This includes her friends, family, CIRS groups, and me.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I am glad that the client uses the yogic teaching that we discussed to manage her stress. Her week has not been easy, but she has managed it very well.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
