Homework assignment to client/group

She did read more on Svadhyaya. She states that she likes her ego and she does not want to give it up. We discussed what self study means and that it does not mean that she has to give up her ego, the ego is helpful for us to get things done. That it rather is an observation and to be the witness of the ego. It is being overly attached to the ego is what causes suffering. She was able to give me an example when she was at a family gathering and her uncle and his political believes are total opposite to her, but she was able to see that he grew up under very different circumstances and she was able to be more emphatic with him.

Activities

My client was feeling a lot better today her sinus infection has resolved and she feels better.
She states that she feels the she can do all yoga poses again.
We started out by measuring her upper body strength with 1 minute of wall push ups. She was able to do 29 today, initially she was able to do 16.
This was followed by 3 minutes rest and then we measured how long she was able to hold her arms out the was able to hold her arms out for 2.35 minutes initially she was able to hold 1.48 minutes.
The GAD7 anxiety scale she will out was a total sore of 7 compared to the initial score of 14.
Her energy is fair because she feels sleep deprived. She says she was traveling for thanksgiving and she did not sleep much. She was staying up late with family members and was sleeping on an air mattress.
Her anxiety has improved she has not watched the news, she is more hopeful.
She feels that she us not as focused as she would like to be. She has not been writing much. She was thinking of doing volunteer work but has not done it. She talked to a friend and found it helpful that the friend gave her permission that she does not have to figure it out immediately. After this conversation she registered to become a death doula.
Started out with centering, 3 arm raises, chest openers.
Sun salutation
high lunge
on the mat cat cow, child pose, sun bird
downward dog with brief blank
savasana
knee to chest
happy baby
figure 4
spinal twist
followed by a guided mediation, with prompt for free association
closed with the asato chant

Client/Group progress summary

The client is making great progress her anxiety and her upper body strength have improved.

Reflection and self-evaluation

It was very helpful that my client gave me feedback, she told me that it is difficult for her when I lead her in a guided meditation and then I am making suggestions for a more loosely guided imagery. She finds this a bit confusing. It is a very good reminder for me that I need to set the stage in advance and let her and other clients know in advance what I will be doing.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Continuing to work on self study and upper body strength.
In the book the Yamas and Niyamas are exercises after every chapter, because of the holidays we will not meet until January we wants to work on the exercise for svadyaya.
