Homework assignment to client/group

Client is to continue practicing his movement snacks according to his timer - every two hours - and practice pranayama at least once daily. He is to continue his inspirational reading and write out his feelings about devotion and his relationship to emotion.

Activities

Discussion of rituals (10 minute limit), Bhakti discussion, side lying controlled articular rotations at hip, viparita karani dynamic with strap, cobra with emphasis on lowering, bow (with and without strap), dynamic seated wide legged forward fold with hip rotations and side bends in original posture, side plank for QL strength and stability (asked about rotational power), side lunges, high lunge to pyramid (requested), standing stork to warrior 3, paschimottanasana, half pigeon dynamic strengthening variation, savasana, yoga nidra, nadi shodhana, kapalabhati, box breathing, guided imagery meditation

Client/Group progress summary

Client is getting more comfortable with and excited by the idea of yoga therapy. He is being more vocal about what he likes and doesn't like already. The biggest challenge might wind up being giving him what he needs in addition to what he wants.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I felt that this session went really well, besides the obvious lack of stillness and engagement with the yoga nidra practice from the bihar school of yoga's "yoga nidra" book. I wanted to give him the maximally authentic experience, but he may have been better served by a more watered-down form of yoga nidra as an introduction. The discussion about bhakti yoga was better this time after review of the stress management TT manual.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Next session I will continue to work with him on the movements he would be best served by, in the general format of the Rishikesh series to also bestow upon him the energetic benefits of such sequencing. I would like to do some reading out of the yoga sutras with him and see how that goes.
