Client/Group progress summary

The client had another rough week due to her husband’s health and preparation of the new non-inflammatory diet. She is working with a nutritionist on a 21-day non-inflammatory diet plan based on a book by Dr. Al White. It is an extremely strict diet (limited ingredients and food brand). The client mentioned it has a ‘really hard diet’ as she spent a lot of time planning and cooking. Some ingredients or food are only available at a store like Whole Food that requires a road trip to the city (she and her husband lives in the country). We talked about maintaining balance; working with the nutritionist on adapting and adjusting the meal plan so that it will not be too overwhelming and stressful for the client. Physically, the client is doing well. She is doing well with Box breathing; holding the breath for four counts was not a problem for her. Because of her busy schedule, she did not have much time to do home practice this week.

Reflection and self-evaluation

While the 21-day non-inflammatory diet is beneficial for her health, strictly following the plan can be overwhelming and stressful for the client. The client began the new diet 4 days ago and she is adjusting to the new routine. I hope that, with the help of her nutritionist, she will find a middle ground, and food preparation will be less overwhelming. I will re-evaluate her mental well-being next week. Today’s session focused on calming the mind and activating parasympathetic system through breathing, gentle movement, and guided imagery. I will continue to support her mental and emotional health in the next sessions.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Continue to improve balance, flexibility, strength, lung capacity, and activate parasympathetic system.
